Data deletion

    There are four ways data leaves Ovnit. They do different things, so each is described separately.

    1. If you scanned a code: deleting your data

    Open the page the QR code took you to and use the “Your data” link at its foot. We email you a link to confirm the address is yours; from that link you can delete your data straight away. It is deleted from that brand’s account only — each brand is separate.

    Deleted: your registrations, customer record, feedback, reported problems, warranty claims, returns, and the emails sent to you. Records of how you used the page are kept without the link to your device.

    Kept, and listed on the page before you confirm:

    • a warranty claim that is still open, and a registration still under warranty or linked to a safety investigation, which the brand has a duty to keep;
    • a one-line record that you agreed to marketing and when that ended, so the brand can show its emails were lawful;
    • the record of who at the brand looked at your data;
    • a code made from your email address that stops the brand marketing to you again.

    The last three are stored against a code made from your address, not the address itself.

    2. If you have an Ovnit account: closing it

    The account holder can close the account from Settings → Close this workspace. Nothing is deleted for 30 days, and the closure can be cancelled from the same page until then. After that, everything in the account’s database is deleted — products, customers, campaigns, messages, reports, settings and every login — and in any event within 90 days of asking.

    Two things are kept: a record that the closure happened, with the account’s name and email stored only as a one-way code; and payment references for invoices already issued, for at least 6 years, because company accounting records must be kept.

    Uploaded files. Files the brand uploaded for its products, such as photos and videos, are deleted at the same time as the database, and stop being available straight away. Deleting a single product deletes its files too.

    3. Automatic deletion

    Ovnit deletes customer data automatically once it is no longer needed, on the schedule in the privacy policy. Each brand can lengthen or shorten those periods for its own account.

    4. Backups

    Anything deleted can remain in our backups for up to 14 days, after which the oldest backup is replaced. Backups exist only to recover the service after a failure.

    Amazon seller connections

    Connecting an Amazon seller account to Ovnit is not switched on yet. Before it is, this page will say exactly what disconnecting removes and how quickly.
